System Requirements

The Adventurers is a 2D pixel tactical RPG with an 800 MB install and a 16 GB RAM minimum on its Steam page. Those two numbers look like they belong to different decades. This page quotes the store anyway. Eternal Vigilance Entertainment listed them; this wiki does not invent a hidden 3D renderer to explain the RAM line.

Store page last checked against the 1.0 listing (31 August 2026). If Steam changes the table, trust Steam.

Minimum (Steam)

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit processor and operating system required).
  • Processor: x86_64 CPU with SSE2 instructions, or any x86_64 CPU.
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: Integrated graphics with full OpenGL 3.3 support.
  • Storage: 800 MB available space.

That SSE2 wording is the same family of phrasing Godot-based Windows games use on Steam. It is not a DirectX version. There is no DirectX 11/12 row on the listing.

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit required).
  • Processor: x86_64 CPU with SSE4.2 instructions, with 4 physical cores or more.
  • Graphics: Dedicated graphics with full OpenGL 4.6 support.
  • Storage: 800 MB available space.

Recommended does not raise RAM or disk. It asks for a better instruction set, more cores, and a dedicated OpenGL 4.6 GPU. If a recap site says “8 GB RAM” or “4 GB storage,” it is copying a different game or an old guess. Japanese store snapshots from Early Access even showed 2 GB RAM; 1.0 English Steam says 16 GB. This wiki follows the current English table.

What the listing is not

  • Not DirectX.
  • Not 8 GB RAM minimum.
  • Not 4 GB disk.
  • Not an official macOS build.
  • Not an official Linux build.
  • Not Steam Deck Verified — it is Playable.

The about-this-game text describes tabletop-inspired hex combat, morale, and a high-fantasy overworld. The hardware table is a short OpenGL + RAM list. Hold both facts without writing a fan theory about why 16 GB sits next to 800 MB.

Steam Deck Playable

Valve’s compatibility line is Playable. That means the Windows executable is expected to run on Deck through Proton with issues that do not fully block play. It is the reason a Deck can boot a game that has no Linux depot. It is not a promise of 60 FPS, perfect glyphs, or a custom button layout.

Practical Deck notes (no battery-hour fiction):

  • Install the 800 MB Windows build; Proton handles the rest.
  • Bind travel stop-movement and center in Settings (9.7.3) if the default layout skipped them. See controls.
  • Trackpad mouse is how hex clicks work. There is no gyro combat.
  • If a proton flag is required later, Steam’s Deck overlay will say so. This wiki will not invent one.

Windows PC advice

If you meet OpenGL 3.3 and 16 GB RAM, you meet the letter of the minimum. Integrated graphics are explicitly allowed. A 2010s laptop that only has 8 GB does not meet the current store minimum even if the pixel art “looks light.” Add RAM or pick another machine.

SSE2 is ancient; almost every x86_64 chip has it. SSE4.2 plus four cores is the recommended CPU bar. Storage is smaller than a single AAA cutscene. An HDD is fine for 800 MB; SSD only changes how fast the splash screen dies.

Steam Cloud is listed among the paid features. The game does not require an always-on server for the campaign. Broadband is not on the requirements table.

Mac and Linux

As of 1.0 there is no official Mac or Linux version. Proton on Steam Deck is a Valve compatibility path, not a supported Linux port. Boot Camp, VMs, and unofficial Proton on desktop Linux are user experiments. Do not file them as “supported platforms” on this wiki.

After you pass the spec check

Buy or demo from Steam app 3062500. Then read getting started and the tools hub. Performance complaints that are actually “I cannot see in caves” are fog of war (9.7.4), not a GPU problem.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about The Adventurers tactical RPG.

What is the RAM minimum?

16 GB RAM, quoted from the current Steam store. Not 8 GB and not the older 2 GB figure that appeared on some Early Access storefront snapshots.

Does The Adventurers use DirectX?

No. Steam lists OpenGL 3.3 (integrated, minimum) and OpenGL 4.6 (dedicated, recommended). Processor lines mention SSE2 / SSE4.2, not DirectX.

How much disk space do I need?

800 MB available space on both minimum and recommended. Not 4 GB.

Can it run on Steam Deck?

Valve marks it Playable. That is the Windows build via Proton. There is no official Linux or Mac client. This wiki does not publish battery-hour guesses.

Is there a Mac or Linux version?

No official Mac or Linux support as of the 31 August 2026 1.0 release. Deck Playable does not equal a Linux port.

Why does a pixel RPG ask for 16 GB RAM?

The store lists 16 GB. This page quotes that line. It does not invent an engine explanation.
