The Adventurers Demo

Eight days in Prycoast's loop — custom start, real systems, and a hard stop before the full map.

Steam Demo Guide

The Adventurers has a Steam demo. It is the right first download. The full game is 1.0 as of 31 August 2026 and costs $12.99; the demo exists so you can find out whether Town Hall, camp, and hex combat are a loop you want to live in. This page is what the 2026 demo actually contains. It is not a coupon page — there are no promo codes, as the codes hub already says.

On 2 August 2026 Eternal Vigilance Entertainment updated the demo branch for the first time in over nine months and called it the likely final demo update until later (possibly after release). 1.0 then removed the Early Access tag from the demo. You are not downloading a 2024 three-class sketch with an EA watermark. You are downloading a short, current slice.

What the 2026 demo includes

The August notes are specific:

  • Length increased to 8 in-game days (up from 5).
  • Team creation and custom start added.
  • Repeatable contracts.
  • Additional general abilities.
  • Many new items.
  • Party objectives that increase power, wealth, or reputation.
  • Enemy abilities and enemy smart targeting.
  • Crafting updates.
  • Difficult terrain changes.
  • Fog of war (combat).
  • Balance work and bug fixes.

Custom start in the broader game later in Early Access defaulted to Paladin, Wizard, and Cleric, with Warrior, Archer, and Thief still available. Use the demo builder to see whether you understand Strength versus Agility versus Resolve before you pay. Origins still include Lone Wolf, Brothers in Arms, New Band, and Custom, with economy and combat sliders.

Eight days is long enough to walk to Prycoast, take Town Hall work, camp through cook / socialize / hunt / maintain gear / guard, and fight at least one night or cave if you Run like a maniac. It is not long enough to treat the demo as a full atlas.

What the demo teaches

The demo is a teacher for the loop, not for every named crisis.

You will learn Walk versus Run the hard way if you burn supplies. You will learn that Energy is a Resolve pool with Vitality recovery when a Wizard in chain armor stops acting. You will learn that trade goods stack to 9 and that blacksmith jobs take 2 hours (1 hour to smelt) unless you rush for 5 gold. You will see combat fog of war if you fight at night or underground. You will meet stun, pin, bleed, and poison if the enemies in your seed use them.

You should also learn permadeath on a cheap clock. A dead Custom Paladin in the demo is an afternoon. A dead Custom Paladin on day forty of 1.0 is a campaign scar. Hard To Kill and Still In This can show up in the general-ability list; they are not a Cleric rez.

If the eight days feel slow, the full game will not suddenly become an action RPG. If they feel tight and readable, you are the audience.

What 1.0 has that the demo does not

The full map, the fort network as a long-term home, and the world crises — Crown Of Ash, Iron Crisis, Shattered Veil, Silent Concord, Gilded Eclipse, Verdant Reckoning — are 1.0-scale content. The demo can show you a contract and a cave. It cannot show you a season of crises and fort requests. 1.0 also shipped quest ending text, fort request duration -50 percent (minimum two days) with +30 percent rewards, Agility block/parry cuts, Resolve magic +25 percent, and broader modding (abilities, combat actions, fort buildings, fort requests, quests, towns; classes, creatures, and items were already exposed in 9.9.0).

Do not expect the demo to contain every class fantasy at endgame power. Do expect it to contain the six stats, town buildings, and hex rules. There is no mobile version. There is no extra human player. Steam Deck Playable applies to the product family; test controls yourself in the demo if a handheld is the plan — see system requirements and controls.

When the eight-day gate slams, buy 1.0 if you were still planning the ninth morning. Use getting started as the origin-and-Prycoast checklist, combat before a cave, and the review if you want a cold verdict before the $12.99 click. The demo’s job is to make that click informed, not inevitable.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about The Adventurers tactical RPG.

How long is the 2026 demo?

Eight in-game days, up from five. The 2 August 2026 patch is the likely final demo update until later.

Does the demo include custom start?

Yes. The August 2026 demo added team creation and custom start, plus repeatable contracts, more general abilities, and combat fog of war.

Did 1.0 change the demo tagging?

Yes. The 1.0 release removed the Early Access tag from the demo. You are playing a slice of the released game, not an EA beta label.

Will the demo show world crises and forts?

Not as the full 1.0 campaign. The demo teaches the Prycoast loop. Crises, long fort play, and the wider map are reasons to buy the complete game.

Is the demo enough to learn the stats?

Yes for the six attributes, Walk versus Run, camp jobs, and Energy. Read the Adventurer Guide formulas on the secrets page if a tooltip is thin.
